Certification as a therapeutic riding instructor is important to you, and it's important to us! We want to help you achieve your goal of becoming PATH Intl. CTRI® certified. The PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor Skills is intended as a user-friendly resource to assist your instructor journey to certification and beyond.
The skills book:
- Provides a content review of the five exam content areas
- Breaks down learning objectives into understandable sections and mentor discussion points
- Utilizes figures and tables throughout to help you visualize key learning concepts
- Is designed to help you practice a structured critical-thinking process in guiding your thought process in selecting the correct answer for exam questions.
This book is organized into five sections to align with the subject areas of the PATH Intl. CTRI® exam and the various skills you will be tested on. Each section begins with a summary of CTRI qualifications that allows you to quickly review a topic and then to reflect on whether it is a personal area of strength or weakness by answering scenario-based, study-format questions about how you would approach a riding instruction situation. The Triple A Framework utilized in this skills book was designed to help combine and apply your knowledge, skills and abilities when it comes to identifying the best solution for different situations. The exam questions are NOT based on the Triple A Framework but instead are multiple choice. Scenarios are used as a way for you to apply understanding of key learning concepts and test your ability to analyze and evaluate scenario-based situations. Each scenario concludes with a question for you to answer using a three-step, critical-thinking process. Sample answers are provided for each scenario at the end of each section.
This is an optional study resource. Utilization of this resource does NOT guarantee a passing score on the exam, nor is it the only resource that may successfully prepare candidates for the certification exam. It is suggested to review the PATH Intl. Standards for Certification and Accreditation Manual as you work through the scenarios to ensure your thought process is in line with the Standards.
*The PATH Intl. CTRI® is a voluntary, entry-level credential for individuals interested in improving and validating their knowledge and skill in the EAS profession to provide quality riding instruction of therapeutic value to people with disabilities.
